"Government is instituted for the protection, security, and benefit of the people, and they have the right at all times to alter or reform the same, whenever the public good may require it."

Join us in our fight for better government!

The next phase in our fight for better government is the defeat of  Mayor Hackett in a mayoral election. Without cleaning house in Orange city government, there is little hope of meaningful reform.

We have purposely not affiliated ourselves with potential candidates to keep focused on the corruption and mismanagement of the current mayor.  Your vote for a new Mayor will be an expression of protest. A protest against how your tax dollars are being spent.  Send a massage to the politicians across the State of New jersey! Work for the defeat of Mayor Hackett!

The Orange City Council, under pressure from citizen protests, voted at the Jan. 16, 2007 meeting to rescind the Mayor's fiscal year 2007 budget increases.  The reduced amended budget was accomplished with the help of an additional $950,000 State aid and by adding $890,000 in "anticipated revenue"  to the revenue side of the ledger.  The Fire Department budget was cut $320,000 while retaining two of the Mayor's "low show job" cronies on the payroll at a cost of $200,000.

We would like to thank the Council Budget Committee for their hard work in accomplishing these cuts. It should be remembered that the 2007 fiscal year started in July of 2006.  Most of the
money in the "budget" presented by the Mayor has already been spent.

This is your city! The Mayor and the Council work for you! Your presence at the meeting will remind them of this and the fact that you are paying the bills!   Be There!
